Ecuador's oil production increased 4% between January and June

Between January and June 2021, Ecuadorian oil production stood at an average of 551,000 barrels per day, when the planned goal was 532,000. This is an increase of around 4%, reported the Ministry of Hydrocarbons.

"Ecuadorian oil production continues to rise," said the Secretary of State in a statement. In the case of Petroamazonas EP, the estimated production was 348,000 barrels and the public company has reported 358,000 barrels. Meanwhile, in the Río Napo Operations joint venture, production is around 72,000 barrels per day.

“The production of private companies remains close to 120,000 barrels per day: initially their goal was 98,000 barrels, which shows the confidence generated by the country, which has attracted more investment than expected, despite the fact that the companies have already complied with the agreed values for this year”, the statement points out.

The Minister of Hydrocarbons, José Icaza Romero, assured that this 4% increase "is the result of a sustained work plan in which resources are prioritized, in such a way that all the operational activities of the companies are carried out with the least quantity of resources, making the most of the human resources and assets that the companies already possess”. The official added that one of the objectives of his management is to promote greater production, "since the oil sector is consolidated and is a resource that must be used for the benefit of all."

Petroamazonas EP implemented a resource optimization plan, in addition to a series of technological mechanisms which, according to the Ministry, "have allowed to increase the production of the fields." (YO)
